Patricia, (Pat, Patty), A. McMahon Regan, 90, of Cape Vincent NY passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on January 20, 2026, in Syracuse, NY. She was born February 27, 1935, to George T. McMahon and Elizabeth A. Weedmark Moore. Pat was brought up in Houseville where she lived with her mother and stepfather, Arthur C. Moore.
She was a 1952 graduate of General Martin High School, Glenfield. She attended The State University of New York Agricultural and Technical College at Canton where she graduated with degrees in Food Service and Restaurant and Hotel Management. She later pursued a degree in Business Management at University College at Syracuse and became an Insurance Underwriter until her retirement. An avid reader and admirer of history, she became interested in genealogical and historical research which led to her forming her genealogy business, As Your Tree Grows, researching and providing ancestral history and family trees for individuals and authors. She was a member of the Cape Vincent American Legion Post #832, the Cape Vincent American Legion Auxiliary Unit, and The United Church of Cape Vincent.
On November 30, 1995, she married Lawrence (Larry) Regan in Jensen Beach, Florida where they resided until their return to New York in early 2006 after losing their home to Hurricane Wilma in 2005, making Cape Vincent their new home.
A woman of indomitable spirit, Pat lived every day to the fullest. When she was young, she enjoyed bowling, golfing and skiing. She was a very proud member of "Pi Nu Epsilon" sorority at Canton College and actively participated in alumni events. She was a dedicated member of the American Legion, participating in parades as part of the Color Guard, carrying the flag with pride. She loved to cook and shared her many dishes with those around her. Most of all, she found joy in the bonds and friendships she shared and cherished with her many friends and acquaintances that enriched her life.
Pat is survived by her children, Kristine Nutting, Lacona; David (Susan) Nutting, Camillus; and Darrell Nutting, Florida; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a brother, Thomas P. (Elaine) Moore, Syracuse, and a sister, Constance D. (Michael) Benson, New Hartford. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Cora J. Kaufman, and a brother, Richard G. Moore. Pat and her family wish to thank her many faithful friends and the Cape Vincent community for their incredible friendship, kindness, support and care throughout the years. Your generosity and willingness to be there for her was not only above and beyond, but a wonderful blessing!
Cremation has been entrusted to Cremation Services of CNY, Inc. She will be buried with her husband in a private interment at the Sackets Harbor Military Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating her life will be determined in the Spring. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are complete.
In Pat's memory, contributions can be made to Cape Vincent American Legion Auxiliary and The United Church of Cape Vincent.
