Linda Louise (Jones) Wheeler, 82, of Jamesville, N.Y. passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 1, 2026.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Harry Howlett Jones and Juanita Roberts Jones, Linda was the oldest of five children. She is remembered in Florida for being a gifted student and a little bit of a fun troublemaker—known for sneaking out to see Elvis, and always being at the beach.
Linda met her late husband, Ralph Edward Wheeler, when he was stationed in the Navy in Jacksonville. After getting married in Linda’s childhood home, they celebrated over 60 years of marriage together. Ralph affectionately called Linda his “Rebel” and together they had three amazing sons: James, Mark, and Jeffrey.
When she wasn’t caring for her own boys and babysitting in the neighborhood, Linda was known for being a wonderful chef and the place to go for a good, southern meal. Linda spent all of her free time with her friends and grandchildren.
From Hawaii to different NASCAR races, Linda and her friends celebrated life together. After becoming a grandmother, time with her grandchildren became a priority. Whether it was making frequent trips to visit her "Virginia Beach Kids" or hosting her much-loved sleepovers (which always ended with a massive breakfast spread), she never missed an opportunity to be surrounded by her children.
In Jamesville, she was a friendly face for years working in Chip’s Deli and could always be seen outside tending to her flower garden.
She is survived by her sons, James, Mark (Tammy), and Jeffrey; sisters Carol “Diane” Rigby and Pamela Corley; her brother Gary (Tama); Uncle Sherrell Roberts; Aunt Barbara Roberts; her many grandchildren Hannah (T.J.), Kaitlyn, Aaron (Janne), Ryan, Madelyn, Aiden, Amber, Amanda (Tom), and Ashley (Amanda); and her Goddaughter Sandra and her daughter Ana Jean.
A celebration of her life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal shelter in honor of Linda’s love for animals.
