Bertha "Berty" M. Carman, 73, of Fayetteville, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday with family by her side. Born in Syracuse and a graduate of Minoa High School she was a long time resident of Chittenango and recently began spending her winters in Bradenton, Fl. She owned Ken Carman Sales Corp and worked with the family business as a landlord, realtor and bookkeeper.
Survived by her siblings;Howard Scofield, Ronald Scofield, Nancy Kingsley, Gareth Scofield, Linda Flett, & Sherry Burdo; her four children, Julie (Jin) Quinn, Kimberly, Brian and Ryan Carman; seven grandchildren; Troy, Robert, Nolan, Carlos, Adam, Alex, and Aurora; and several nieces, nephews and very good friends. Berty was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Ruth and Jared Scofield; her brother, Jared Scofield Jr.; her sisters Jacqueline Cordell and Patricia Cordell.
Her home always was an open door to all who knew her. She was the glue that kept all her siblings and relatives connected. Berty was known for her infectious smile and friendly personality. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and most of all spending time with her family.
The family will be planning a celebration of life in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY Support Hospice – Hospice of Central New York & Hospice of the Finger Lakes
