Patricia Fitzgerald Barnum Davies, 89, a long time resident of Whitesboro, died peacefully Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Masonic Home. Patricia was born in Utica, NY to the late Walter Fitzgerald and Mildred Hoke Fitzgerald on July 22, 1928. She was the eldest of their four children. Pat attended Utica schools until her senior year and graduated from New Hartford High School. She was married to the late Walter C. Barnum with whom they had five children.
Pat was a homemaker for much of her life until she took a job at RSVP as a social coordinator. She encouraged and placed young single moms in school or jobs in an effort to make them self sufficient. A talented artist, Pat’s passion included china painting and drawing portraits. Her creativity was endless and she delighted in many other forms of crafting. She enjoyed going out to dinner and finding little restaurants in town where she would become a regular and befriend the waitresses and staff. She never met a stranger she didn’t like. She loved the ocean, garage sales, the color pink, black and white polka dots, her family, Manhattan cocktails, and high heeled shoes. Pat always brought the party wherever she went.
She is survived by her siblings Walter Fitzgerald Jr. of New Hartford, William Fitzgerald and wife Yoshiko of Palo Alto CA, and Joan Riley of Buffalo, NY, her children: three daughters and sons- in-law Joyce and Kevin Marley of Clinton, Judy and Michael Miller of Chandler, AZ, and
Diane and Stan McKinley of Charlotte, NC. Two sons and daughter- in -law David and Kim Barnum of Deerfield and Douglas Barnum of Whitesboro. She was Grandmother to ten, great grandmother to eleven. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at The Masonic Home where they lovingly took care of Pat for almost 3 years.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday November 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 66 Oxford Rd, New Hartford. A Christian Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2407 Oneida St, Utica.

I remember Pat well from the "old days" when she taught knitting at the Spanish Community Center in East Utica. She even got me to knit myself a sweater vest! She was a lovely lady with a great sense of humor that always kept us laughing. I'm sure she will be sadly missed. My condolences to her family.
