Arena Miller, 81, of Liverpool and Henderson, NY, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2017.

Rena was born into a large close-knit family in Bernhards Bay and graduated from Central Square High School. Rena married Frederick Miller of Liverpool in 1959 and after being blessed with two children, moved to the Bayberry community in 1968 where they found an abundance of neighbors and friends.

She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with family and will always be remembered for her selflessness and generosity. Rena and Fred enjoyed traveling and took a cross country family vacation in 1972, camping along the way and discovering the beauty of our National Parks, the Grand Canyon and Pacific Ocean. During the 1970's and 80's, Rena worked for Massachusetts Casualty Insurance Company, first as Secretary and later as the Regional Service Director. After retiring, she enjoyed spending summers at their cottage in Henderson, on the shore of Lake Ontario. She loved taking walks and gardening and remained active for her entire life.

Rena was especially proud of her grandchildren, Tom and Sarah, and appreciated being closely involved in their lives. She loved them both so dearly. Rena is survived by son, Kurt Miller of Liverpool; daughter, Janet Polech of Liverpool; grandchildren, Tom and Sarah; siblings, Geri and Ted and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Fred in 2005 and brothers, Charlie, Jack, Franklin, Horatio, Martin and sisters, Martha, Dora, Liz and Blanche.

In accordance with her wishes, her body was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, 8/22 at 11am at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 904 Vine St., Liverpool. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to North Area Meals on Wheels, 413 Church St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
